The ideal sandwiches for a barbecue or summer gathering are those prepared with shredded meat!

It doesn’t matter if you use pig or beef.

The tough connective fibres inside red meat essentially melt away when cooked for a long time at low heat.

All that’s left is the juiciest, most delicate flesh imaginable.

Slow-cooked pork shoulder or beef roast simply cannot be compared!.

The result is a slice of sticky sweet meat that’s ideal for pulled pork sandwiches, especially when topped with southern peach coleslaw!.

Brush the pork with a root beer reduction after shredding it.

Believe me when I say that the root beer glaze packs a delicious punch that will have you reaching for seconds!.

The nicest part is that you don’t have to grill or smoke the meat outside in the hot sun, and you don’t have to use your oven.

As a result, you’ll feel as light as a cucumber salad in your kitchen!.

Recipe For Root Beer Pulled Pork:.

Pork shoulder will be slow-cooked in a cooker with a blend of root beer and barbecue sauce as the cooking liquid.

It will save you time while still providing tender, juicy beef perfect for sandwiches!.

Ingredients.

Pork shoulder, boneless, 4 pound

1 big chopped onion

kosher salt (1/2 teaspoon)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

3 gallons of root beer (not diet)

1 1/2 cup barbeque sauce plus a little extra to serve

.Directions:.

1.Collect the necessary materials.

2.Cut the pork shoulder (also known as pork butt or Boston butt) into large chunks and combine it with the cut onion, salt, pepper, and root beer in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is extremely soft, with the cover on the slow cooker. Alternatively, turn the oven to high and roast the pork for 4 to 5 hours.

3.Drain and discard the liquids when the pork is done. Using two forks or a potato masher, shred the meat. Stir in the barbecue sauce until everything is well combined.

4.Pile the shredded pork on a bun or hoagie roll and top with sliced dill or sour pickles and coleslaw for a classic pulled pork sandwich.

5.Serve pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and extra barbecue sauce on the side.

6.Make tacos with the shredded pulled pork, or serve it as an entree with macaroni and cheese, slaw, and biscuits.

.Recipe Tips:

.Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon liquid smoke to your barbecue sauce for an extra smoky flavour.

Macaroni and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, slaw, and French fries are all good choices for side dishes.

.Why does this Recipe Works?

.Have you ever tried root beer pulled pork?

The flavour of pork shoulder cooked in a root beer marinade for several hours is incredible.

The acid in root beer helps to break down the proteins in the meat, resulting in exceptionally juicy, tender pulled pork!.

There are only FIVE items required (and that includes salt & pepper)..

1.Put it on your calendar and forget about it! After you’ve placed everything in the slow cooker, set it aside to simmer to perfection.

2.This pork is so tender that it comes apart when you cut it with a fork.

3.You can use any type of barbeque sauce you want for this. There are a plethora of flavours to choose from, ranging from sweet to spicy to extra tangy.

.What’s a good side dish for pulled pork?

.Serve with slaw on the side or on top of the pulled pork sandwiches.

A crisp coleslaw, such as our Summertime Slaw, adds a bright crunch in any case..

When you’re throwing a game day party or have extended family coming, pulled pork is the dish to make.

After the pork has been shredded and blended with the barbecue sauce, keep it warm in the slow cooker until ready to serve.

Allow your visitors to help themselves to split buns, coleslaw, sliced dill pickles, and extra barbecue sauce.

.Choose cuts labelled shoulder, butt, or Boston butt for soft, juicy pulled pork.

The butt section comes from the animal’s shoulder, despite the name.

The name stems from how hog shoulders and other less desirable parts were transported in colonial New England.

The shipping barrels were known as “butts.”

.Frequently Asked Questions

.What is the best pig cut for pulled pork?

.My favourite pieces of pig for pulled pork dishes are pork shoulder and pork butt.

Because they have more fat than most other parts of the animal, they break down and become incredibly soft when gently cooked.

.What is the time required to cook pulled pork in the slow cooker?

.On the low setting, it takes roughly 8 hours to cook pulled pork.

Your slow cooker may take a longer or shorter time to prepare, depending on the type of meat you choose.

.For how long can root beer pulled pork be stored?

.The leftover pulled pork can be reheated and enjoyed within three days.

Add extra barbecue sauce to taste if the meat starts to dry out when serving.

.How does the pork taste? Does it taste like root beer?

.There is no strong root beer flavour in Root Beer Pulled Pork.

You can taste more of the barbecue sauce and the natural flavour of the pork.

.Ice cream sandwiches made with root beer pulled pork can be frozen, right?

.Freeze the meat mixture in freezer containers once it has cooled.

Let it thaw in the refrigerator before using.

Stir occasionally and add water if necessary as you heat the mixture through.

.What is the effect of root beer on pulled pork?

.The acidity of root beer helps to break down the tough fibres in meat, thereby tenderizing it.

The sweetness of the soft drink complements the pork without introducing a root beer flavour, while the sugar caramelises the edges.

.In a Crock-Pot, can pork shoulder be overcooked?

.In a Crock-Pot, it is possible to overcook pork shoulder.

To avoid overcooking the meat and drying it out, we recommend using a timer.

While 8 to 10 hours may seem like a long time to slow cook meat, choosing the low setting ensures suppleness without drying out the meat.

Cooking on high will not speed up the process.

.Can I put this in my quick pot because I’m short on time?

.Yes!

The pork cooks quickly in the instant pot; if you wish to use one, try this recipe.

.Is it possible to use this recipe with chicken?

.I make a chicken version of this recipe, but I add a few extra things because poultry has less flavour than pork.
