Homemade ice cream is not only tastier than the store-bought stuff, but it’s also easier to make than you might think.

Whether you’re in the mood for a classic flavor like chocolate or strawberry, or something more unusual like lavender or matcha, we’ve got a recipe for you.

And since we’re big fans of ice cream here at Cuisinart, we’ve got a few tips to help you make the perfect batch every time.

First, start with high-quality ingredients.

That means using fresh fruits and flavorings, natural cream and milk, and pure cane sugar.

These will all make a difference in the taste of your finished product.

Second, invest in a good ice cream maker.

We love our Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker, but there are plenty of other great options on the market.

And finally, don’t be afraid to experiment.

Have fun with your flavor combinations and try new ingredients.

That’s the best part about making your ice cream – you can make it exactly how you like it.

Notes

  1. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can make homemade ice cream! Pour the mixture into a large container and place it in the freezer. Remove the ice cream from the freezer and stir vigorously until smooth. Return to the freezer and repeat until frozen solid.
  2. If you want softer, scoopable ice cream, transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the freezer for at least 2 hours before serving. Store in the freezer for at least 4 hours for a more challenging, cream-like consistency.
  3. If you find your ice cream too hard after storing it in the freezer, let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before scooping.

Churning ice cream in a Cuisinart takes about 15-20 minutes.

Depending on the recipe, you may need to add more time if the mixture is too thick.

Be sure to check the consistency of the ice cream periodically; serve immediately or store it in the freezer for later.
