Potato skins serve as the perfect snack to enhance the excitement of your Friday evenings.

They’re extremely easy to make and they can be reheated in an air fryer for convenience.

This recipe is my favorite because it’s healthy, but it doesn’t use any oil, down on calories and fat content.

It also uses less salt which is great if you have health issues related to high sodium intake or if you just don’t like salty food as much as I do!

Don’t worry, though.

The salt content in the potato skins is still more than enough to give you that delicious taste that everybody loves.

If anything it’ll be too much for some people and they can just add a little less.

Other than the less salt in this recipe, everything else stays the same as any other TGI Friday’s Potato Skins recipe.

I know it might seem weird considering how simple this one is compared to others, but trust me when I say it works wonders!

What is the serving size?

There is no specific serving size, but you can easily make them into 4 or 8 servings depending on how many skins you’re making at a time.

How long will this keep in the fridge?

It’ll last for up to 3 days if stored properly in an airtight container with aluminum foil over it to preserve freshness.

You could also freeze it for up to 2 months or more if wrapped well and stored in freezer-safe bags.

Can I use self-rising flour?

No, not for this recipe because it doesn’t contain baking soda or baking powder, which are essential ingredients in self-rising flour.

Just stick with all-purpose flour.

Is there oil in this recipe?

Nope!

You can use oil spray or any other cooking spray, but very little is needed because the skins are already cooked.

Can I use russet potatoes instead?

Possibly, but I’d recommend baking the potatoes in the oven until they’re cooked thoroughly before using them to make potato skins.

What’s a good side dish to serve with this?

These are best when served alone as an appetizer or snack, but if you want something else, then I’d recommend a lovely tartar sauce for dipping just like TGI Friday’s does!

Also, I recommend ten side dishes which we can serve:

1. French fries: It is a classic side dish to accompany potato skins.

2. Coleslaw: This is a great way to get some vegetables in your meal, and it goes well with the potato skins.

3. Green beans almondine: This is a fancy side dish that will elevate your potato skins to a whole new level.

4. Grilled asparagus: Another healthy side dish option that will go well with the potato skins.

5. Fruit salad: A light and refreshing option that will contrast nicely with the heavier potato skins.

6. Roasted Brussels sprouts: A more savory side dish that perfectly complements the potato skins.

7. Baked sweet potatoes: My favorite side dish to serve with potato skins!

They’re sweet and savory, and they’ll perfectly balance out the flavors in the potato skins.

8. Mashed potatoes: Another classic side dish that is a must-have for any potato skin meal.

9. Potato salad: A fun and unique side dish that will add variety to your meal.

10. Rice pilaf: A simple side dish that will not overwhelm the flavors in the potato skins.

Can I reheat it in the oven or microwave?

Yes, you can reheat the skins in the oven for around 10 minutes at around 350 degrees or until they reach your desired level of crispiness.

You can also use the microwave to reheat the potato skins by placing them on a paper towel and heating them for 60-90 seconds, depending on how powerful your microwave is.

Do I have to use salt and pepper?

Of course not!

You can add any seasonings you want or even barbecue sauce if that’s more your style.

I don’t own an air fryer; what else can I use for cooking the potato skins?

You can bake them for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in the oven instead of using an air fryer.

How many potato skins will this recipe make?

This recipe makes eight standard-sized servings which are usually good enough for a party size of 4 people.

If you need a smaller serving size, just cut everything down by half, and you’ll get around 16 servings from this recipe instead of 8.

That should be enough to last you for a few parties or nights when you feel like having some potato skins.

Can I add ingredients on top of the potato after I’ve scooped it out?

Yes, absolutely!

Feel free to add any kind of meat, cheese, onions, jalapenos, veggies, anything you want for added flavor and taste.

Just be sure not to put too much in one area so that it falls out while you’re reheating.

Or if you do happen to have some fall apart, just save them and place them on top afterward.

It’s easier than making another recipe just for toppings unless your recipes call specifically for specific ingredients. (If any)

What tools do I need to make the recipe?

Other than a potato and an air fryer, you can probably get away with just a knife for cutting everything up.

Other than that, you’re good to go!

Does this recipe have a lot of sodium?

Yes, it does.

However, if people do not like salt content, they can omit some or all of the salt from the recipe.

Trust me when I say that these potatoes are delicious even without all the salt in there.

How many calories per serving?

There are about 136 calories in each of them, so having two is about 272 calories total for this dish.

That might seem high but let’s be honest:

People eat more than one potato skin per serving, so it’s not that much once you have several servings.

This recipe is healthier than the rest, but it doesn’t sacrifice any flavor or taste.

It’s quick, simple, and easy to make, making it perfect for a special treat that requires little effort to create.

Trust me when I say that this recipe will have your friends and family coming back for more every time you decide to whip up another batch!
